Kelly Anderson was named just the fourth head coach in program history on June 7, 2018. She takes over after serving as the Blue Hens assistant coach during the 2017-18 campaign under longtime head coach Laura Travis.

During her lone season as an assistant coach at Delaware, Anderson was a part of 12 wins, which tied for the most over the past seven seasons. Additionally, senior Amanda Studnicki was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, while sophomore Brooke Pilkington and junior Sara Komer both earned All-CAA accolades.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Kelly lead our program. Her drive and passion for the student-athletes and the game of tennis is tremendous,” said Chrissi Rawak, UD Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and success, both in her coaching career and her time as a student-athlete.”

“I’m very grateful and excited for this opportunity to lead the Blue Hens. I appreciate Chrissi [Rawak], Bob [Lopez] and the entire Blue Hen leadership team for believing in me and entrusting me to lead the program to success,” Anderson remarked. “I’m looking forward to getting to work with the team and developing them athletically, academically and personally to prepare them for success in the future.”

Prior to last season at Delaware, Anderson served as the head coach at Stetson for the 2015-2016 season, guiding the Hatters to a top-three finish in the Atlantic Sun.

In addition to her time at Stetson, Anderson spent two seasons as both an assistant and the interim head coach at South Florida, where she saw the Bulls reach as high as #33 in the national rankings and take home the 2014 American Athletic Conference Championship.

Her stops also included time at the University of Illinois and at Campbellsville University, where she was a part of the 2012 NCAA National Championship team.

Along with her coaching experiences, Anderson brings some impressive accomplishments as a player. During her tenure as a player, she led the Yellow Jackets to a No. 6 team ranking while finishing her career third in program history with 92 singles wins and third with 81 doubles victories.

Anderson also competed professionally on the South African Fed Cup team and collected six ITF doubles titles. She placed as high as No. 135 (doubles) and No. 625 (singles) in the WTA world rankings.

A native of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, Anderson graduated with highest honors from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in management and finance. She earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from Campbellsville in 2012.
