Official Rules:

1. All participants will use the Assess-Pro push-up tester.

2. The tester will be set for either a male or female participant according to the diagram and instructions.

3. The participant will assume the proper push-up position; on their toes, back flat, arms shoulder-width apart.

4. Hands will be placed evenly on either side on the blue platforms.

5. Participant must start in the up position and wait for the staff member to signal start.

6. Participants must come down until his/her chest hits the red square of the push-up tester. A beep will sound.

7. Participant will then extend up until his/her arms are completely straight, with elbows fully extended, locked out at the top.

8. If the participant fails to fully extend his/her arms at the top of the push-up, the staff member will count this as a “no-rep” and deduct from the final number of completed push-ups.

9. If the participant fails to touch his/her chest on the red square, the machine will not register it as a counted rep. This is also a “no-rep”.

10. The Assess-Pro push-up tester will record the number of completed push-ups.

11. Participant will continue until failure. This is not a timed test.

12. The final repetition counted is the last one completed in the UP position.

13. The staff member will stand at the side of the participant in order to ensure that the participant’s elbows are fully extended at the top.
