A fourth-year member of the the Blue Hens rowing team, Hayley Diverio is the coxswain on the team's Varsity Eights and Varsity Fours crew.  The senior from Newton, N.J. (Gill St. Bernard's) is a two-time CAA Academic Honor Roll selection that has placed in the top five of nine events in the past two seasons.  Diverio and her teammates next compete in the Murphy Cup Regatta this Saturday on Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

1.     What is your major?  Career aspirations?
Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environment, Society and Sustainability. I also have a minor in Legal Studies. Right now, I am hoping to work in the marine biology field, but I am also hoping to attend Environmental Law School and ultimately work for the government.
 
2.     What is your favorite class?
My all time favorite class was Introduction to Criminal Law.
 
3.     Three words to describe yourself?
Enthusiastic, Determined, and Responsible.
 
4.     Most memorable moment as a member of the Blue Hens?
I can’t really pick just one. Competitively, my favorite moment was winning gold in my first collegiate regatta. I also have great memories of the traditions my team has like dressing up every halloween to have inter-squad races.
 
5.     The best nickname on the team?
Definitely Chad—Her name is really Catherine.
 
6.     Who is the funniest on the team?
My roommate, Kate Flood for sure.
 
7.     What do you like to do on your spare time?
If I’m home, I love to go hiking or kayaking. When I’m at UD, I like to hang out with my friends and do whatever comes our way. I think enjoying the people you’re around is enough to make anything fun.
 
8.     Favorite meal?
Fettuccine Carbonara. I think I’ve tried it at every Italian restaurant I’ve been to.
 
9.     Who is your favorite musical artist?
It changes with my mood, but I never get sick of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.
 
10.  What is your game-day playlist?
I don’t really have a specific playlist, but it’s always something calm. I like to go into races calm and collected.
 
11.  What’s one song or artist on your iPod that nobody would know you had?
For some reason I downloaded a few songs by Cher when I was in 6th grade, and I still have them.
 
12.  If you had one wish, what would it be?
I’d wish for all of my family (immediate and extended) to stay as close and supportive as we are now no matter what comes our way. I’m so lucky to have such a large, yet close-knit, group of people supporting me.
 
13.  What superpower would you want, or what superhero would you want to be?
I would love to be able to fly or breathe under water.
 
14.  What is your favorite vacation spot?
Hawaii or Cape Cod, I can’t decide! I’ve only been to Hawaii once when I was 12, but I cried when I left because I loved it so much. As for Cape Cod, I’ve been going there every summer since I was born, so it’s a part of me.
 
15.  Your all-time favorite movie?
Good Will Hunting.
 
16.  What cartoon character would you be?
I’d be Reggie from Rocket Power because she was basically the coolest girl character on any show.
 
17.  Any hidden talents?
I can do the worm.
 
18.  What are your biggest pet peeves?
Loud chewing, when people stand really close behind me in line, and when people tell me that I’m short.
 
19.  Favorite TV show or program?
Law and Order SVU will never get old—I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every episode, and a good portion of them I’ve seen twice.
 
20.  What are three things that are on your bucket list?
I want to go New Zealand, attend the Summer Olympics, and coach a crew team.
 
21.  Do you have any pets?
I have a German Shepherd named Athena, and I’m obsessed with her.
 
22.  Favorite toy as a kid?
I had a pretty sweet Hot Wheels Jeep Wrangler that I could drive.
 
23.  What is your dream car?
I actually drive my dream car, a Jeep Wrangler! I wanted one since I grew out of my Hot Wheels Wrangler mentioned above.

25.  Who is your favorite athlete?
Mary Whipple, the U.S. Women’s Olympic Rowing Team coxswain.
 
26.  Who is your favorite actor/actress?
My favorite actor is Matt Damon, and my favorite actress/comedian is Kristen Wiig.
 
27.  Any superstitions?
In the sport of rowing, it is said that you must christen and name a new boat before you race it as to avoid bad luck. I am a firm believer in this.
 
28.  If you could have a dream date, what would it be?
Not to sound cliché but having a great conversation while walking on the beach or going for a hike would be ideal.
 
29.  What is your favorite book?
A Long Way Gone or A Thousand Splendid Suns. I love books that are powerful and really mean something.
 
30.  What is your worst habit?
I always leave miscellaneous items around my house, sorry roommates!
 
31.  Give a talent that you would most like to have.
I would love to be able to sing… well.
 
32.  Who would you like to trade places with for the day?
I would definitely trade places with Kristen Wiig. Someone that funny must have hilarious daily encounters.
