One of the top jumpers in University of Delaware women's track & field history, Amira Idris has earned seven letters for indoor and outdoor track during her career and holds school records in the indoor long jump (19-4.25) and triple jump (40-1) - both set in 2015 – and ranks No. 2 all-time at UD in the outdoor long jump (19-9.5) and triple jump (41-1).

She is also one of the team's top sprinters. A native of Woodbridge, Va. (Hylton High School), Amira led Delaware to the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association team title when she won the long jump title and placed second in the triple jump.

She is a four-time All-East performer, captured the ECAC indoor triple jump title this past March, and has won 18 career individual meet titles.
 
1. What is your major?
Biomedical engineering with minor in biomechanical and bioelectrical engineering.
 
2. What are your career aspirations?
To design, and test medical devices, and eventually pursue a PhD in biomedical engineering.
 
3. Favorite class?
Independent Research.
 
4. Three words to describe yourself?
Determined, hardworking, innovative.
 
5. Most memorable moment as a member of the Blue Hens?
Apart from winning CAAs last year, it has to be winning the triple jump at ECACs and getting two school records at the same meet.
 
6. The best nickname on the team?
On the jump squad, I will say Giant, which is the nickname of my teammate Kelsey Evancho, who despite her petite frame, is able to high jump higher than athletes twice her height.
 
7.  Who is the funniest on the team?
Everyone on the team cracks me up. I can’t pick just one… but I don’t think it’s me.
 
8. What do you like to do on your spare time?
If I’m not making up for missed sleep, I enjoy sketching and catching up on favorite shows and movies.
 
9. Favorite meal?
Pasta
 
10. Who is your favorite musical artist?
Don’t really have one, I like a wide range of artists.
 
11. What is your game-day playlist?
Music that gets me energized with lots of beats and drums.
 
12. Any superstitions?
Eating pasta the night before a competition.
 
13. What’s one song or artist on your iPod that nobody would know?
Taste The Money (Testimony) by P Square.
 
14. If you had one wish, what would it be?
Happiness and prosperity for my family, my friends, and I.
 
15.  What superpower would you want, or what superhero would you want to be?
I would totally want to be a shape shifter.
 
16. What is your favorite vacation spot?
Wherever it’s warm with cool breeze.
 
17. Your all-time favorite movie?
Pride and Prejudice.

Stich, The alien from Lilo & Stich.

Tinkering
 
20. Talent you would most like to have?
To be able to learn and recall information immediately after being exposed to it just once.
 
21. What are your biggest pet peeves?
When someone tries to put me or others down in a negative way.
 
22. Favorite TV show or program?
Grey's Anatomy.
 
23. Dream car?
A solar powered car that runs just as well as current cars on the market…don’t like paying for gas.
 
24. Dream date?
Dinner and a good conversation.
 
25.  What are three things that are on your bucket list?
Starting a non-profit organization, touring the continents, and seeing the 7 Wonders of the World.
 
26.  Do you have any pets?
I had a beta fish named Caesar for 3 years, but he died a few weeks ago :(
 
27. What is your favorite cereal?
Honey Bunches of Oats, mixed with Honey Nut Cheerios.
 
28. Favorite toy as a kid?
Lego building blocks.
 
29.  Who would you like to trade places with for the day?
With my pre-teen self, so she can see that things do get better.
