1 Mile Run

How to Enter: Just tell a fitness staff member you want to participate   

Compete for the chance to be named "Top Hen". Top scores will be posted throughout the week on the whiteboard and on social media. Winner names and pictures will be announced on social media the following week and prizes will be awarded.

All participants will also be entered into a raffle to win a fitness service package! 


Rules

1. Participants can compete anytime during the day (Monday through Friday) throughout the competition period.

2. Participants must have a UD Fitness staff members weigh them in and judge.

3. For the weigh-in, participants must take off their shoes.

4. Participant will step on the treadmill and select “quickstart” or the “go” button to start the test.

5. The treadmill will be set at an incline of 0% and will remain there for the entire test.

6. Only the speed is allowed to be adjusted during the test.

7. The individual may not hold onto the treadmill with their hands or get off the treadmill at any point during the run.

8. Once the 1 mile run is completed, the staff member will record the time.

9. Participants can attempt the run as many times as they wish (ex: every day of the week, multiple times during the day).

10. Top scores will be posted throughout the week.

11. The individuals who record the fastest run in his/her weight class will be the winners.

12. There are 7 weight class categories for both males and females.

13. Winners will be announced the following week and prizes will be awarded. 

 

Official Rules:

1. The participant will step on the treadmill and select “quickstart” or the “go” button.

2. The treadmill will be set at an incline of 0% and will remain there for the entire test.

3. Changing speed is permitted during the duration of the test.

4. Once the runner hits the 1.0 mile mark, the employee will record the finish time.

5. It is recommended that the participant performs a 2-5 minute cool down prior to getting off the treadmill.

6. Participants must wear proper shoes and clothing for the run.

 

Causes for Disqualification of the 1-mile run:

1. The individual may not hold onto any part of the treadmill with their hands.

2. If the individual gets off the treadmill at any point during the run, or he/she will be disqualified.

3. Only the speed is allowed to be changed during the run, not the incline.

4. If the speed is too fast, and the participant has to stop, the run will not count.

5. If the participant reaches a speed that the staff members perceives as dangerous, the staff member has the authority to end the run at any point.
