HEN SCRATCHINGS  🐔
• Delaware opens its 2017-18 season at Richmond for the second time in the last five years.
• The Blue Hens are 53-59 in their 112 season openers, but have won the last two lidlifters: a 62-56 victory at Delaware State in 2015 and a 64-56 home triumph over Goldey-Beacom last year.
• Delaware and Richmond have split four all-time meetings, although the teams have met just once since 1995: a 71-69 Spiders victory at the Robins Center on Nov. 8, 2013.
• The Blue Hens are opening on the rad for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.
• The game begins a busy stretch for Delaware to open the season, as the Blue Hens will play six games, all but one on the road, in 13 days.
• Delaware dropped an 84-82 overtime decision at Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 1 in an exhibition benefit for hurricane relief. Eric Carter finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Ryan Daly contributed a double-double with 18 points and 12 boards.
Ryan Allen added 19 points, while fellow freshman Kevin Anderson chipped in with 12 points.
• Last year’s starting guards Anthony Mosley (fractured toe) and Darian Bryant (back) did not play in the exhibition, and will be game-time decisions.
