NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women’s golf head coach Patty Post has announced that twins Mackenzie and Sophia Dieter have signed National Letters of Intent with UD and will begin playing for the Blue Hens next fall.

Both Mackenzie and Sophia attend Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Fla.

Mackenzie was a medalist at the Optimist International Qualifier, and then posted a 76-76-77-74 at the Optimist International Golf Tournament at PGA National Golf Club. Last year she fired an 80-73-72 at the Pinehurst North and South Junior Amateur to finish in 11th place, and carded a 79-73-76 at the 2017 Women’s Amateur stroke play at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach.

She fired a 79-78 at the 2017 Women’s Amateur Championship in Vero Beach, Fla., and tied for fourth place in her first AJGA Tournament in Ocala, Fla.

Sophia shot a 75-74-76 at the Florida State Amateur at Hammock Creek Conservatory, and posted a low round of 71 at the PGA Junior Series at the Ryder Course in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Additionally, she fired a 72 at the Dixie Amateur at TPC Eagle Trace.

Sophia tied for third place with a 70-77 at Indian Spring Country Club at the South Florida PGA Junior, and posted a low score of 72 at the Banyan Country Club and Hunters Run Country Club events. She also carded a 75 to finish second in the South Florida PGA Junior Championship Qualifier.
