TUSCON, Ariz. -- University of Delaware freshman right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan IV was named a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American the publication announced Wednesday morning.

Sullivan IV (New Castle, Del./St. Mark’s), who completed one of the most prolific freshman campaigns in school history, struck out 95 batters in 72.2 innings pitched. The Delaware native pitched to a record of 7-3 with an ERA of 2.97, setting a new freshman program record for strikeouts.

His 95 strikeouts were also the second most by a freshman in the country, trailing just Drey Jameson of Ball State who recorded 97 strikeouts. The rookie’s 11.77 strikeouts per nine innings was the 30th best mark nationally.

In addition to Wednesday’s distinction, Sullivan IV earned CAA Co-Rookie of the Year and was selected to the CAA All-Tournament team.
