RICHMOND, Va -- Seven home games, including four in the month of September, two first-time opponents, a return to the U.S. Naval Academy, and home leagues games against James Madison, newcomer Albany, William & Mary, and Richmond highlight the 12-game University of Delaware football schedule announced Tuesday.

Delaware revealed its complete schedule as part of the overall 2013 slate announcement by the Colonial Athletic Association of its league schedule for the 11 league members, including Albany and fellow newcomer Stony Brook. Old Dominion and Georgia State have left the league to pursue football at the NCAA Division FBS level.

No times were announced for Delaware’s schedule and neither were dates for special games such as Homecoming, Parents and Family Day, Band Day, and Hall of Fame Day.

Delaware, led by head coach K.C. Keeler, will be looking to improve upon a 5-6 record in 2012. The Blue Hens are expected to return 10 starters on offense and eight starters on defense.

The schedule will be a difficult one for the Blue Hens as Delaware will face two teams that advanced to the NCAA FCS Tournament in 2012 (Villanova and Wagner), nine that had winning records, and five that won eight or more games. The teams combined this past season to win 56 percent of their games (76-60), not including Navy’s upcoming game vs. Arizona State in the Kraft Hunger Bowl.

The Hens will open the season with four homes games at Delaware Stadium in the first five weeks of the campaign. The season opens vs. Jacksonville (Fla.) University (7-4 last year) out of the Pioneer League on Aug. 29 followed by the annual Route One Rivalry game vs. Delaware State (6-5) on Sept. 7 in Newark.

After a road game at Navy (8-4) on Sept. 14, the Hens will return home for two more games, including a Sept. 21 battle against defending Northeast Conference champion and NCAA quarterfinalist Wagner (9-4) and the CAA opener against rival James Madison (7-4) on Sept. 28.

October will feature three games as the Hens travel north to Maine (5-6) on Oct. 5 and host Albany (9-2) on Oct. 12. After a bye week on Oct. 19, the Hens will return to action Oct. 26 at Rhode Island (0-11).

The final month of the regular season will feature two home games and two road contests. The Hens will travel to Towson (7-4) on Nov. 2, host William & Mary (2-9) on Nov. 9, host Richmond (8-3) on Nov. 16, and travel to defending CAA champion Villanova (8-4) for the annual Battle of the Blue rivalry game.

Delaware is among 10 CAA teams who will play NCAA FBS opponents in 2013. The Blue Hens will play Navy, James Madison will take on Akron, Maine will play Massachusetts and Northwestern, New Hampshire will face Central Michigan, Rhode Island will take on Penn State, Richmond will travel to North Carolina State, Stony Brook will take on Boston College, Towson faces Connecticut, Villanova will take on Pittsburgh, and William & Mary will challenge West Virginia.
