NEWARK, Del. – Head coach Scott Grzenda of the University of Delaware women’s soccer team has announced three captains for the 2013 season.

Seniors Dianna Marinaro and Shannon Kearney along with junior Allegra Gray will serve as the Blue Hen captains this fall.

Marinaro, a native of Wading, N.Y., has played in 58 games for Delaware in the past three seasons. The midfielder tallied a career-best five assists in her sophomore campaign and has registered eight points throughout her career at Delaware.

Kearney, a forward from New Hyde Park, N.Y., has totaled 19 points in her career so far as a Blue Hen. Playing in 56 career games, Kearney has scored seven goals, two of which have been game-winners.

Gray, a midfielder who hails from West Chester, Pa., was recently named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Team. The junior garnered All-CAA First Team accolades in 2012. Since moving to the CAA in 2002, Gray is just the second defensive player and first sophomore in Delaware program history to earn first team all-conference honors. The midfielder has played in 30 career games in just two seasons for Delaware.

The Blue Hens return to the pitch Friday, Aug. 30 at Rutgers for a 7 p.m. start
