NEWARK, Del. -- As a new era of University of Delaware football begins this fall under head coach Dave Brock, fans attending Blue Hens home games this season at Delaware Stadium will have the opportunity to take part in several new traditions and take advantage of a special game-day amenity offered for the first time.

All Blue Hen fans are invited to join in on two new and unique Delaware Football game-day experiences this fall. Tailgaters will have the opportunity to come out and greet and cheer on members of the Blue Hen football squad during pre-game as they march down Stadium Drive escorted by the Delaware Marching Band, Cheerleaders, and Spirit Groups on their way to the locker room.

The debut walk for Thursday’s season opener vs. Jacksonville will begin at 5 p.m. In subsequent weeks, the walk will start approximately two and one-half hours before kickoff and will form at the entrance to the Delaware Field House.

Fans are also invited to stick around after each home game this season - win or lose - and join the Blue Hens as they sing the alma mater along with the UD Marching Band in the southwest corner of the field.

Also new this year, Delaware Athletics is offering the sale of Delaware-brewed beers, Dogfish Head and 16 Mile, at two Delaware Beer Gardens located in the southeast and northwest corners of Delaware Stadium. The Beer Gardens are open to members of the Delaware Diamonds Society, UDAF contributors, and to Premium Box Seat Holders. Eligible patrons will be provided with a voucher to gain access to the Beer Gardens. Box holder guests (non-UDAF/DDS donors) will use their ticket stub for access.

“We are all excited to kick-off the 2013 season next Thursday,” said University of Delaware Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady. “The team has worked incredibly hard this off-season and we are looking forward to a successful fall. We are especially excited with the initiatives that will be unveiled on Aug. 29. The pre-game march to the stadium and the post-game singing of the alma mater are intended to unify the entire Delaware Team - players, coaches, band members, spirit groups, students, and fans - in an effort to achieve our goal of making Delaware Stadium the most difficult place for a visiting team to play in all of FCS football.

“We also look forward to the initiatives that will strengthen and grow our commitment to representing the State of Delaware, including the new Delaware Beer Gardens that will provide an added amenity to our many loyal supporters,” said Ziady.

Fans will also note a change of location to the always popular pre-game Blue Hen Fan Zone. Previously located directly in front of Delaware Stadium, the Fan Zone will be located in the parking lot next to the West Practice Gym of the Bob Carpenter Center addition. This fun, family-friendly entertainment area will include live stage performances by Radio Disney and area bands, interactive games, and prizes.

In addition, all UD football season ticket holders will also have the added bonus this season of receiving 10% off their order at Delaware Stadium concession stands by presenting their season ticket holder benefits card. This offer excludes sales at Grotto Pizza and Chik-fil-A and also at the Beer Gardens.

Great season ticket packages as low as $99 and single game tickets for as low as $15 are now available by calling 302-831-2257, going online to, or in-person at the Bob Carpenter Center Ticket Office.
