Club Synchronized Skating

    Synchronized Skating

We are the University of Delaware Synchronized Skating Team and we consist of 21 young women from all over the country who share the same love and passion for the sport of synchronized ice skating. We are a club sport at the University of Delaware and we are affiliated with the USFS (United States Figure Skating). We compete at the highly competitive, collegiate division and we meet at least three times a week for on-ice practices and off-ice conditioning.  Over the years we have had to overcome many adversities and obstacles in order to achieve our title as 18-time Eastern Sectional Champions. Taking time to accept one another and work together is how we have become a cohesive unit.

 Requirements

  • Members must have extensive figure skating experience and ability. Members must also provide own skates and pay monthly dues which cover majority of the cost of travel, apparel, and basic equipment needed.

Practice Information

  • Our season begins in August with the start of every school year and continues throughout the month of March of the following year (including winter session). We have on-ice practices and off-ice conditioning at least three times a week along with mandatory gym workouts. All practices are in the Rust and Gold Ice Arenas on campus.

Tryouts

Unlike most club sports teams, we hold our tryouts in the spring of every year. Tryouts are normally held in either March or April so that prospective skaters can know whether they made the team or not before college decision day in early May. (We do not have a set date for next year's tryout yet but I can keep in touch and let you know during spring semester once we determine a date and time).

We also hold a recruitment weekend every year in the fall. During recruitment weekend, our team hosts prospective high school students who are interested in attending the University of Delaware and skating for our team. It is a three day event that begins on a Thursday evening and ends on a Saturday morning so that prospective students are able to skate with our team, attend college classes with current team members, and take an official tour of the campus by a UD ambassador. This year our recruitment weekend will be held on October 12th-14th.
