Jim Kaden has worked at the University of Delaware since 1995 and is currently the Assistant Director for the Ice Arenas and Outdoor Pool.
During his professional career he has served as operations supervisor for the University of Delaware football program, including day to day operations, transportation, lodging, and home gameday operations. He has assisted and coordinated several conference and NCAA post-season events and was the tournament director for the North Atlantic Conference Swimming Conference Championships and America East Baseball Tournament during his tenure in the UD Athletic Department.
In July 1997, Kaden (pronounced "kay-din") was promoted to oversee the day-to-day operations of the University's Fred Rust and Gold Ice Arenas and Outdoor Pool. During his tenure at the ice arena, the facility has hosted several figure skating competitions, including the Eastern Regionals Figure Skating Championship and Philadelphia Areas Figure Skating Competition. The ice arenas also hosted the 1999, 2011, and 2014 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men’s National Ice Hockey Championships and the 2014 ACHA Women’s National Ice Hockey Championships.
Kaden has overseen numerous facility and capital improvement projects for the ice arenas and outdoor pool during his tenure. In add ti on, several skaters have competed at the Winter Olympic Games.
His teaching experience at Delaware has included Sport Event and Facility Management as well as Sport Business and Finance. He has also been an adjunct faculty member at Wilmington (Del.) University since 1996 where he has taught Recreational Facilities Management and Planning and Sports Finance.
Kaden graduated with a bachelor of science degree in marketing and management from Siena College in 1993 and added a master's of education degree with a concentration in sports management from East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University in 1994.
An avid baseball fan, he played college baseball at Siena College where he was a four-year starter, served as team captain his senior year, and was a member of the 1992 & 1993 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team as well as the1993 CoSIDA Academic District I team.
He currently resides in Newark with his wife, Jennifer, and their two sons, Bradley and Brett.
