Jeff Doucette, a native of Newark, Del., has been with the University of Delaware Athletics Department and ice arenas since 1987.
Doucette joined the Blue Hens as a maintenance technician in the ice arena and has since worked his way up to assistant director for building maintenance. He is responsible for all operations in the Fred Rust and Gold Ice Arenas in addition to the Outdoor Pool. Doucette is a certifield First Aid/CPR/AED instructor and trains employees on an annual basis.
In high school, Doucette worked at the University of Delaware as a skate guard at what was then the only ice arena (currently the Gold Arena).
Doucette graduated from Northestern in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. During his time at NU, he worked at Northeastern's Matthews Arena (then known as Boston Arena) where he performed a myriad of duties from janitorial to game day operations for the Division I ice hockey program.
After graduating from Northeastern, Doucette worked as a police officer in Orlando, Fla. before returning to Delaware in 1987.
For 11 years, Doucette was a member of the Board of Directors as the Schools, Colleges and Universities section Director for the Ice Skating Institute, an international organization for the ice arean industry. He later became the District 4 Director and represented Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
For the last 16 years, Doucette has been a member of the Board of Directors for the North East Ice Skating Managers Association, an ice arena industry organization whose goal is to provide education and training for arena professionals based mostly in the New England area with over 900 members.
He has chaired the organization's annual Conference and Trade Show in 2006, 2009 and 2013. For 11 years, he served as the vice president of the organization and has served as president since 2011.
Doucette currently resides in Elkton, Md. with his wife, who also works at the University of Delaware as an administrative assistant. The couple have a daughter, Katie, who is an undergraduate student at UD.
Doucette enjoys fishing, boating, biking, traveling, and spending time with his family.
