Blue Hens Fall to Nationally Ranked Georgetown, 3-0
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Delaware women’s soccer team fell to nationally ranked Georgetown, 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field. The No. 13 ranked Hoyas scored one goal in the first half and two in the second in the Blue Hen loss.
Georgetown is the first nationally ranked opponent Delaware has faced this season. Freshmen Natalie Zelenky and Madison Brosler along with senior captain Shannon Kearney led the Blue Hens with one shot on goal each. Junior keeper Jessica Figuero registered her first start of the season against the Hoyas registering three saves.
“It was a great day for the girls today. We played a terrific first half creating some really good chances. Second half they showed why they are ranked 13th in the nation. I’m excited to get back to it on Tuesday and prepare for our two games at home this weekend. I encourage everyone to come out and support us like they did against Loyola.”

- Defenders Brittany Bonzano and Maddy Parker along with midfielder Allegra Gray were the only Delaware field players to play a full 90 minutes of action against the Hoyas
- Nikki Adams led the Blue Hens with two shots in the contest

- The Blue Hens return to Delaware Mini-Stadium Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. as they face off against the Red Flash of St. Francis (Pa.)
