Coach Info:
Position:
Tim Brock, a former Delaware high school standout who competed for the University of Delaware in three sports in 2004-08, has been selected as the new assistant coach for the Blue Hens’ women’s cross country and track & field programs, head coach Wendy McFarlane announced in August, 2013.

Brock, a native of Newark and a former high school standout at Newark High School, replaces Joe Catania, who served as McFarlane’s top assistant during the 2012-13 season.

Brock spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at North Carolina State after assisting at the Tatnall School in Wilmington, Del. for three seasons. While at North Carolina State, Brock was a part of the staff that produced five NCAA Championship team berths, 14 All-American citations, nine Atlantic Coast Conference individual champions, and an ACC cross country team title.

“I am delighted to welcome Tim back to his alma mater,” said McFarlane, who led the Blue Hens to a third place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association cross country championships in 2012 and a runner-up finish at the CAA Outdoor Championships this past May. “Tim will be working closely with our cross country and distance runners and will assist with all areas of recruitment. I am confident that he will do an outstanding job assisting our teams to future success.”

During his time at Tatnall, Brock helped coach the girls and boys teams to a combined 10 state titles in cross country and track and field. Additionally, the girls cross country program achieved national prominence with three consecutive appearances at the NXN National Championships, including a third place finish in 2008.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to return to my alma mater and to move back to my home state of Delaware,” said Brock. “The University of Delaware is a top school nationally and I can’t wait to coach and recruit high quality student-athletes as we look to contend with the best. I would like to thank those who have mentored me along the way. The learning experiences gained from Mike Mooney, Jim Fischer, Patrick Castagno, and Rollie Geiger have helped make this amazing position possible. I am so thankful for the confidence thatn Coach McFarlane has shown in me as we look to continued success.”

While at Delaware, Brock earned 10 letters for head coach Jim Fischer, including four in cross country and three each in indoor and outdoor track & field as a distance runner. He competed in two CAA cross country championships, competed in the Penn Relays, was captain for three seasons, and was presented with the UD Alumni Association W. Fred Harmer Award for success on and off the field and work for the success of the team.

He received his bachelor's degree in health and physical education with a minor in coaching sciences from Delaware in 2008.
