RICHMOND, Va. – The road to a third consecutive Colonial Athletic Association title will begin on January 5 for the University of Delaware women’s basketball team as the league announced today the tentative 2013-14 conference slate.

All CAA game dates and times are subject to change based on television schedules. The final schedule, along with television broadcast information, is expected to be announced at CAA Basketball Media Day on October 22.

After wrapping up 11 non-conference competitions, the Blue Hens will rattle off 16 conference games for a total of 27 contests.  For the first time since the 1994-95 season, Delaware will play in less than 18 league matches.

UD, currently amidst a 42-game CAA winning streak (regular season and tournament) dating to the 2011-12 season, will open the New Year by hosting Hofstra on January 5 at the Bob Carpenter Center before traveling to Virginia to take on William & Mary (January 9) and James Madison (January 12).

The Blue Hens then open a home weekend set against UNCW (January 17) and Drexel (January 19) before flying to Charleston, S.C. to match up against CAA-newcomer College of Charleston on January 26.

The stretch continues January 30 at home against Northeastern and then two games on the road at Towson (February 2) and UNCW (February 7).

Delaware will encounter six games in 13 days, as Valentine’s Day weekend at the Bob Carpenter Center will be dedicated to CoC (February 13) and Towson (February 16).

Two days later, Delaware takes the short trip to Philadelphia to face Drexel (February 18) and then returns home to host James Madison (February 20) and William & Mary (February 23).

UD wraps up the regular season in New England as the Blue Hens head to Hofstra (February 27) and Northeastern (March 2).

The 2014 women’s championship will be held March 13-16 at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
