NEWARK, Del.Lindsay Prettyman led the University of Delaware cross country team once again Saturday as she finished first overall at the UD Blue-Gold Invitational to lead the Blue Hens to a first place team finish.

Delaware finished first of eight teams that participated in the meet, which was held at Delaware's White Clay Creek State Park.

Prettyman, who has been a force for the Blue Hens all year and throughout her career at Delaware, placed first in the six-kilometer course with  time of 22:29.51. She finished seven seconds ahead of her closest competitor. She now has led the team in all five meets this season and in 16 straight over three years. Her medalist finish on Saturday was the third individual title of her cross country career at Delaware.

Delaware collected 23 points to take first place in the team standings with an average time of 23:15.  West Chester was second followed by St. Thomas, Franklin & Marshall, LIU Post, NYIT, Dowling, and Holy Family in the eight-team field.

Seven Blue Hens finished in the overall top 10. Emily Gispert finished fourth (23:13), Alyssa Kennedy was fifth (23.19), Meredith Steenkamer placed sixth (23.33), Katrina Steenkamer was seventh (23.40), Shannon Kelly (23.48) finished ninth, and Betsy Erlanger (23.58) placed 10th.  Five additional Delaware runners finished in the top 20.

Delaware returns to action Nov. 2 when the Blue Hens take part in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville, Md.
