The Blue Hens and Seahawks played tied 1-1 for 16 minutes of the second half until UNCW scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute. Mateo Cardona blasted a free kick from 20 yards out into the top left corner to lead the Seahawks to victory.

Junior keeper Borja Barbero earned the start between the posts for the Hens. Borbero registered fives saves in his fourth loss of the season. He now owns a 10-4-0 overall record. Three of his four losses have come in CAA play.

“You would always like to send your seniors out on a high note and I felt we did enough tonight, particularly in the second half, to warrant the victory,” said Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy. “However, credit must go to a world class free kick from UNCW to win the game as the clock drew down. We are now in a must-win scenario with our last home game Wednesday against nationally named William & Mary”
