REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- The Blue Hen women’s golf team leads the team standings while UD junior Andi Slane is second in the individual standings on Saturday following the opening round of the first annual University of Delaware Fall Invitational.

Two rounds were scheduled for Saturday, but the second round was suspended due to darkness. The second round will be completed Sunday morning, followed by the third and final round of the tournament.

The Blue Hens posted a 303 team score during the first round to lead the 10-team field, while the Delaware “B” team sits in eight place with a 332 score. Rollins is two shots behind UD at 305, Penn sits in third place at 307, and Towson and Central Connecticut are tied for fourth at 318.

Slane fired a one over par 72 on the par 71, 5,978-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club course, ending the day in second place. Slane trails only Sophia Chen of Penn, who carded an even par 37-34-71 during her opening round.

Grace Chua recorded a four over par 41-34-75 to end the round tied for fourth place, while Vitoria Teixeira is seventh with a five over par 37-39-76. Nathalie Filler, playing for the Delaware “B” team, was the fourth Blue Hen to finish the round in the top 10 as she tied for eighth place with a six over par 37-40-77.

Amanda Terzian carded a nine over par 40-40-80 to end the round in 22nd place, while Vimonthip Benjasupawan finished with a 10 over par 43-38-81 to end up tied for 23rd place. 

For the Blue Hen “B” team, Baralee Theinthong is tied for 33rd place following her 13 over par round of 40-44-84, while Marie Bogenez carded a 14 over par 44-41-85 to end the round tied for 39th place. Annie Bowlsby is tied for 42nd place after she recorded a 15 over par 46-40-86, while Emma Sills is tied for 47th place following her 18 over par round of 46-43-89.
