Delaware Coaches And Student-Athletes To Participate in Movember Movement
NEWARK, Del. – Throughout the month of November, University of Delaware coaches and student-athletes will be participating in the ‘Movember Movement’ for the first time.
Movember is a global charity, which raises funds and awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
The Movember movement originated in Melbourne, Australia in 2003 with 30 members and has now expanded to over 1.1 million members in over 20 countries. In 2012, the Movember movement raised $147 million for men’s health. The Movember movement is ranked in top 100 best NGOS (charity) in the world by Global Journal based on three key main criteria: impact, innovation and sustainability. There are an estimated 5 million NGOs worldwide.
At Delaware, the Blue Hen coaches and student-athletes will raise funds for the Movember cause and will also grow mustaches to raise awareness for men’s health issues.
