RICHMOND, Va. – For the fourth straight week, the Colonial Athletic Association has honored a University of Delaware women’s basketball player as senior Kelsey Buchanan (South Riding, Va.) was named Monday afternoon as the league’s Player of the Week.

In two games this weekend, Buchanan averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in just 17.5 minutes played in wins over SIUE and Howard.

For the season, Buchanan leads the Blue Hens (6-1) with 16.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest with a 50.6 shooting percentage.  Additionally, the center has scored in double figures all seven games this season for Delaware.

This week’s recognition marks the second time this season that CAA has honored Buchanan, as she was previously the CAA Co-Player of the Week for Nov. 18.

Drexel’s Alexis Smith was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.

The Blue Hens do not play again for another two weeks as they wrap up fall semester classes and prepare for final exams.  Delaware next travels to Princeton for a 2 p.m. game on Dec. 15.
