ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team will open its 2013-14 season this weekend when the Blue Hens compete in the Navy Fall Classic.

The tournament will again be played on the par 71, 6,528-yard Naval Academy Golf Course, and will feature single rounds on both Saturday and Sunday. The tournament features 10 teams including the Blue Hens, Brown, College of Charleston, Georgetown, North Dakota State, Saint Joseph’s, Towson, and three Navy squads.

This year will mark Delaware’s 13th consecutive appearance in the Navy Fall Classic, and the Blue Hens captured the 2010 and 2011 team titles.

The Blue Hens, led by 13th-year head coach Mike Keogh, return four players from last year’s squad that posted six top-five finishes on the season and placed among the top 10 in all but two tournaments.

Junior co-captain Niño Rosal (at right) will lead Delaware after averaging 77.69 shots per round a year ago, while senior co-captain Dan Costenbader finished immediately behind Rosal with a 77.83 average round. Also returning are sophomore Kyle Martin who appeared in all but one tournament as a freshman when he ranked third on the squad with a 77.54 average round, as well as junior Fraser Graham who competed in four invitationals for the Blue Hens in 2012-13.

Following this weekend’s action, Delaware will take three weeks off before competing in the George Mason Patriot Invitational at Laurel Hills Golf Course in Lorton, Va. on Sept. 28-29. The Blue Hens will then immediately head to Williamsburg, Va. to participate in the Joe Agee/William & Mary Invitational on Sept.30-Oct. 1 at The Williamsburg Club.

Following an appearance at the Binghamton Invitational at the Links at Hiawatha in Apalachin, N.Y. on Oct. 6-7, Delaware concludes its fall season once again at the Old Dominion/Outer Banks Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, N.C. on Oct. 20-22.
