WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Blue Hen sophomore Annie Bowlsby is tied for the individual lead while the University of Delaware women’s golf squad is eighth in the team standings on Sunday following the first round of the C&F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.
The Blue Hens recorded a 314 team score during the opening round, their fourth lowest total of the year, to finish the day in eighth place out of 28 teams. Boston College leads the field with a 302 team score, followed by Longwood at 306. Wofford and Gardner-Webb are tied for third place at 309, while Richmond rounds out the top five at 311.
Bowlsby (at right) fired a two over par 73 on the par 71, 6,097-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort, her season low and the second lowest of her career, to finish the round tied for first place along with Hannah Pierce of Longwood. Bowlsby opened on the back nine and finished one over halfway through including a birdie on 17, and then parred eight holes during her one over front nine.
Freshman Nathalie Filler, playing as an individual, tied the low round of her rookie campaign by carding a three over par 74 to end the day in a tie for third place. Also starting on the 10th hole, Filler was one under through five holes following four pars and a birdie on 13. She dropped to four over par through the fifth hole, before a birdie on six and three pars closed her round at three over.
Sophomore Amanda Terzian posted a seven over par 78 on Sunday, ending the day tied for 20th place in the individual standings after recording 10 pars and a birdie on nine. Freshman Vimonthip Benjasupawan, who also recorded 10 pars to go with a birdie on five, fired a 10 over par 81 to end the day in a tie for 54th place.
Sophomore Baralee Theinthong is tied for 70th place with an 11 over par 82, while freshman Kayleigh Reed is tied for 85th place after she carded a 12 over par 83 during her opening round. Senior Frida Nilsson, also playing as an individual, fired a 13 over par 84 and is tied for 92nd place in the standings.
The tournament continues with the second round on Monday, before the final round on Tuesday.
