RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior guard Davon Usher was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and one of three NCAA.com Top Performers of the Week following his spectacular performance during the Blue Hens’ two victories last week.

Usher, a native of South Baltimore, Md. (Digital Harbor HS), averaged 33.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals while leading Delaware to an 80-67 victory over Northeastern last Monday and a dramatic 67-64 comeback win over College of Charleston on Wednesday. He went 22 of 32 (68.8%) from the field on the week, including 8 of 13 (61.5%) from three-point range, and was also 15 of 20 (75.0%) from the foul line.

Usher scored a game-high 25 points during the win over Northeastern, going 8 of 12 from the field and burying his first five three-point attempts. He then erupted for 42 points against College of Charleston, including 27 in the final eight and a half minutes while leading the Blue Hens back from 20 points down to the Cougars.

Usher’s 42 points were the most by a Delaware player in Bob Carpenter Center history, tied for the fourth most in school history, and the most since Dave Sysko scored 45 against Lafayette on Feb. 29, 1964. Usher also made seven steals during the contest, one shy of the UD single game mark.

Usher, one of two Blue Hens to start every game this season, currently ranks second on the squad with 18.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 60 three-pointers made, and 42 steals. He ranks second in the CAA in scoring, steals per game, and minutes played per game, while ranking among the top 11 in the league in six other categories.

Usher’s CAA Player of the Week honor is his first as a Blue Hen, while he shared NCAA.com Top Performer of the Week accolades with Jordan Bachynski of Arizona State and Melvin Ejim of Iowa State. Additionally, Usher was selected College Sports Madness CAA Player of the Week and High-Major Player of the Week.

Usher and the Blue Hens are 18-7 overall and a perfect 10-0 in the conference heading into Wednesday’s 7 p.m. home game with James Madison. Delaware has won 12 consecutive games, the third longest winning streak in school history, and has captured nine in a row at the Bob Carpenter Center.
