SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The University of Delaware men’s tennis team dropped its second straight match after recording a 6-1 loss to Swarthmore Saturday at the Garnet’s Mullan Center.

Seniors Troy Beneck (Wilmington, Del.) and Adam Lawton (Estepona, Spain) earned the team’s lone doubles victory of the afternoon following a 6-3 win over Max Kaye and Harrison Lands.

Beneck followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Anthony Collard in top flight singles action for his fourth straight win.

With the loss, the Blue Hens fall to 2-2 on the season while Swarthmore moves to 1-0 in its season opener.

     ·   Troy Beneck has won four straight singles matches.
     ·   Alex Sweet snapped a three-match winning streak.
     ·   Beneck is in third place all-time with 68 career singles victories.  Chris Hincker (2007-11) is second with a career mark of 69-33.
     ·   Adam Lawton is 56-22 all-time in doubles play, a mark that ties him for third all-time with current associate head coach Austin Longacre, who went 56-21 from 2006-10.
     ·   Lawton and Beneck have won four straight doubles matches.
     ·   Zack Niklaus and Sweet broke a three-match winning streak.
