BALTIMORE, Md. -- By virtue of winning the league regular season championship, the University of Delaware men’s basketball team has earned the top seed in the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Championship and will face either Hofstra or UNCW on Saturday at 12 noon in the tournament quarterfinals at the Baltimore Arena.

The Blue Hens went 22-9 during the regular season, and have already tied for the fourth most victories in a UD single season. Delaware also went 14-2 in league play to win its eighth regular season conference title in school history, including its first in the CAA.

The Blue Hens will face the winner of Friday’s opening round game featuring the eighth-seeded Pride and ninth-seeded Seahawks, which will take place at 7 p.m. at Baltimore Arena. Delaware swept the season series from both Hofstra and UNCW this year.

Other quarterfinal games on Saturday feature No. 4 seed Drexel facing No. 5 seed Northeastern at 2:30 p.m., No. 2 seed Towson against No. 7 seed James Madison at 6 p.m., and No. 3 seed William & Mary battling No. 6 seed College of Charleston at 8:30 p.m.

If Delaware advances on Saturday, the Blue Hens would face the Drexel/Northeastern winner in Sunday’s first semifinal at 2:30 p.m., with the second semifinal slated to begin at 5 p.m. Monday’s championship game will begin at 7 p.m.

All four quarterfinal games of the championship will be televised by Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, Mid-Atlantic and New England, as well as CSS and SNY. The semifinals and championship game will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network. Friday’s first round game will be televised online by CAA.TV.
