University of Delaware Women’s Golf Team in 13th Place Following Second Day of Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf team fired a 317 score on Monday to fall four spots into 13th place out of 36 teams following the second day of the Kiawah Island Classic.

The Blue Hens were tied for ninth place following Sunday’s opening round, but currently sit 13th with a two-round total of 618. Delaware is one of the top 19 teams that move on to contend for the championship on the Cougar Point Course on Tuesday, while the other 17 squads will play a flight championship on the Oak Point Course. Play will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start on both courses on Tuesday.

Kent State leads the team standings with a two-round score of 594, while High Point is second at 599 and Jacksonville Sate sits in third place at 601.

Blue Hen junior Amanda Terzian fired an eight over par 80 on the par 72, 5,902-yard Oak Point Course on Monday, ending the day in a tie for 28th place in the individual standings with an eight over par 72-80-152. Terzian posted her lone birdie of the day on the fourth hole, while also adding eight pars.

UD sophomore Nathalie Filler had the best round of the day by a Blue Hen, as she fired a five over par 77 to end the afternoon tied for 48th place with a 10 over par total of 77-77-154. Filler birdied 14, 17 and 1 during her second round of the tournament, to go with nine pars.

Freshman Grace Chua fired a nine over par 81 on Monday and will enter the final round tied for 66th place at 75-81-156, 12 over par. Chua posted birdies on 10 and 5 during her day, along with nine pars.

Sophomore Andi Slane carded a 10 over par 82 during her second round, finishing the day tied for 85th place with a 15 over par score of 77-82-159. Slane birdied 15 and 18 on Monday while adding seven pars during the afternoon.

Freshman Vitoria Teixeira is also tied for 85th at 15 over par, after firing a seven over par 77 on Monday to finish the day at 80-79-159. Teixeira recorded her lone birdie of the day on 3, while also posting a team-high 11 pars.

Sammie Buchanan of UNC Greensboro holds a two-shot lead entering the final round with her two under par 70-72-142.
