RICHMOND, Va.  -- Thanks to a superb effort between the pipes in the University of Delaware’s 11-9 victory over rival Villanova Saturday, Blue Hen men’s lacrosse goalkeeper Conor Peaks has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Peaks will lead his teammates into action today (March 4) when the Blue Hens host Lafayette at 4 p.m. at Delaware Stadium.

Peaks, a sophomore goalkeeper from Ponte Vedra, Fla. (Ponte Vedra High School), played a key role as Delaware (3-2) won its second straight game and posted its most significant victory of the season. He allowed nine goals and recorded a career-high 16 saves, including two in the final two minutes to help Delaware preserve the win. He faced 43 Villanova shots on the day and allowed just six goals heading into the final stanza.

After five games this season, Peaks has allowed 37 goals for a 7.80 goals against average and has recorded 58 saves for a .611 save percentage. He ranks No. 12 nationally in save percentage and No. 18 in goals against average and ranks No. 2 in the CAA.

In addition to Peaks, also earning weekly CAA honors was CAA Co-Player of the Week Kyle VanThof of Penn State and CAA Rookie of the Week Brier Davis of Hofstra.
