WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team finished in 13th place as the Blue Hens opened their 2014 spring season this Sunday at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate.

The Blue Hens carded a two-round total of 635 on Sunday, before Monday’s scheduled final round was canceled due to rain. Delaware posted a 308 score during the first round of the tournament, while dropping to 327 during the second. South Carolina captured the team title with an impressive score of 560, while East Tennessee State placed second with a 579 score.

Blue Hen sophomore Kyle Martin carded a seven over par 76-75-151 on the par 72, 6,761-yard Pines & Ocean Course, finishing in a tie for 32nd place in the individual standings.

Senior Dan Costenbader finished in a tie for 63rd place after he fired a 14 over par 73-85-158 on Sunday, while sophomore Colin McKenna carded a 20 over par 77-87-164 during his Blue Hen debut to finish in 72nd place.

UD junior Fraser Graham placed 73rd at the tournament following his 21 over par 85-80-165, while junior Niño Rosal carded a 34 over par 82-96-178 to finish in 78th place.

Will Starke of South Carolina earned medalist honors with a seven under par 64-73-137, while Sam Echikson of Davidson finished one shot back.

Delaware is back in action on Mar. 23-25 when the Blue Hens compete in the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
