Prettyman Sets Record in 1,500m to Lead Delaware Outdoor Track & Field at First Day of Raleigh Relays
Delaware will continue action with a full day of racing Saturday at North Carolina State. In addition, members of the Blue Hens will also be competing at the Towson (Md.) Invitational Saturday.
Prettyman, who qualified for the NCAA Championships during the cross country season and set multiple school distance records during the indoor campaign, starred in her first outdoor competition of the spring as she placed third overall in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:21.65. She broke the school record of 4:23.0 set by Mary Schilly-Knisely in 1980. The time also qualified Prettyman for the ECAC Championships in May at Princeton.
“The ladies did a fine job today,” said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane. “Lindsay had an outstanding school record performance as she continues to rewrite the record books. I am so proud of everyone’s effort so far this season.”
Prettyman was the Hens’ top finisher on the day as she placed third in the 1,500 meter race trailing only winner Brook Handler of Michigan (4:18.26) and Brigitte Mania of Connecticut (4:21.46).
