RICHMOND, Va. -- University of Delaware senior women’s track and field standout Lindsay Prettyman has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 1.

Prettyman, a senior from Newark, Del. (St. Mark’s High School), earned the weekly award as she starred for the Blue Hens at the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State.

Prettyman is no stranger to CAA weekly honors, having previously won a handful of awards last fall for her efforts in cross country. She continued the trend over the weekend with a solid showing at the Raleigh Relays. Prettyman captured third in the 1,500 meter event with a time of 4:21.65, good enough for the top time in the league this season.

Her time broke the school record of 4:23.0 set by Mary Schilly-Knisely in 1980 and also qualified her for the ECAC Championships in May at Princeton.
Prettyman also had a hand on the Blue Hens’ ninth-place 4 x 800 meter relay squad which finished one second off a new UD school record (9:03.29). The team also qualified for the ECAC Championships.

In addition to Prettyman, also honored by the CAA were Towson sophomore Maggie Rampolla (Women’s Field Athlete of the Week), Northeastern freshman Paul Duffey (Men’s Track Athlete of the Week), and William & Mary redshirt freshman Derek O’Connell (Men’s Field Athlete of the Week).

Delaware continues action this weekend at the Colonial Relays at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
