Blue Hen Women’s Golfers Finish Third, Vitoria Teixeira Fifth at UNCW Seahawk Classic
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Blue Hen freshman Vitoria Teixeira and junior Amanda Terzian each posted top 10 finishes to lead the University of Delaware women’s golf team to a third place finish this weekend at the UNCW Seahawk Classic.
The Blue Hens posted a 311 team score during Sunday’s final round, finishing third place out of nine teams with a three-round total of 918. The third place finish marked the sixth time out of eight tournaments this season that the Blue Hens have recorded a top-five finish. Elon won the team title with a 907 score, while the host Seahawks came in second place with a 915 score.
Teixeira carded a five over par 77 on Sunday on the par 72, 6,106-yard River Landing Golf Course, finishing fifth place in the individual standings with a 10 over par score of 76-73-77-226. Teixeira, who made 15 pars on Sunday, posted the top finish of her career and recorded her second top 10 performance.
Terzian fired a six over par 78 during her final round, tying for seventh place with a 13 over par 78-73-78-229. Terzian posted her lone birdie of the day on 15, while notching her third top 10 finish of the year.
Sophomore Vimonthip Benjasupawan tied Teixeira for the low round of the day by a Blue Hen with a 77, tying for 13th place after her 15 over par 75-79-77-231. Benjasupawan made a birdie on 13 and also had 11 pars on Sunday.
Redshirt sophomore Andi Slane recorded birdies on 9, 15 and 16 during her seven over par round of 79, as she finished with a 16 over par 72-81-79-232 to tie for 16th place.
Sophomore Nathalie Filler fired a nine over par 81 during her final round, finishing in a tie for 29th place at 80-81-81-242, 26 over par. Junior Annie Bowlsby, who along with Filler played as an individual, carded a 10 over par 82 and tied for 39th place with a 31 over par 86-79-82-247.
UD freshman Grace Chua shot an 11 over par 83 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 42nd place with a 34 over par 81-86-83-250.
Delaware takes next weekend off before closing its regular season on Apr. 18-20 by competing in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at St. James Plantation Golf Course in Wilmington, N.C.
