NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team will look to defeat Temple for the second time this season as the Blue Hens host the Owls in a non-league game Wednesday at Bob Hannah Stadium.

This will be the second matchup between the Owls and Blue Hens this season. The first meeting came on April 1 in the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic and Delaware won the game 12-4. Every Blue Hen starter recorded at least one hit in the game and Joe Giacchino, Greg Olenski, and Ryan Hartley each had three hits on the day.

Delaware’s 15 hits in the victory were, at the time, the third highest total the team had recorded in a game this season. Kevin Milley picked up his first collegiate win in the game as the freshman did not allow a run in five innings, struck out six, and only gave up three hits.

After losing the first game of last weekend’s series against Hofstra, the Blue Hens bounced back to win the final two games and win the series against the Pride. Saturday’s win was Delaware’s first Colonial Athletic Association road win of the year.

The Blue Hen pitching staff was nearly unhittable against in the series as the Pride managed only three total runs and two extra-base hits in the three-game set.

Freshman John Geffre (0-3, 5.62 ERA) will toe the mound for the Blue Hens, while Temple’s starter will be LHP Connor Staskey (0-0, 4.50 ERA).

This will be the 109th meeting between the Blue Hens and Owls. Their first matchup took place in 1909. The Blue Hens lead the all-time series 58-50 and have won 10 of the last 12 matchups against Temple.

First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Bob Hannah Stadium.
