JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  --  University of Delaware senior Paige Morris posted a 41st place finish in the triple jump during the final day of the NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field East Regionals Saturday night at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.

Morris, a senior from Milford, Del. (Sussex Tech High School), was the third and final Blue Hen student-athlete to compete at the regionals, joining Lindsay Prettyman, who placed 38th in the 1,500 meters, and Amira Idris, who finished 47th in the long jump, on Thursday.

Morris, who did not qualify for next week’s NCAA Championships at the University of Oregon, closed out the 2013-14 competition season for the UD athletics program. Her best leap measured 39-feet, 6.5-inches.

University of Florida junior Ciarra Brewer captured the top spot in the event as she leaped to a distance of 44-feet, 3.5-inches. The top 12 finishes advance to the NCAA Championships.

Morris capped an outstanding senior season that saw her capture the Colonial Athletic Association triple jump title, place fifth at the ECAC meet to earn All-East honors, and win individual titles at the Navy Invitational, Delaware Invitational, and Delaware Classic.

She also played a big part in leading Delaware to its first-ever CAA team title earlier in May.

This year marked the seventh straight season that the Blue Hens had a student-athlete qualify for the regionals and the second straight year that three Delaware athletes advanced to the meet.
