Welcome to the Blue Hen family! The Carpenter Sports Building, also known as the "Lil Bob", offers award winning recreational facilities and unrivaled programs to UD students and staff. Students can stay active with intramurals, club sports, group fitness classes, CrossFit, rock climbing, personal training, and much more! Below is a quick guide of important dates to mark on your calendar and a summary of everything we have to offer.

Facebook Event Reminder

  • Interested in joining one of the 38 club sports teams on campus? Attend this event to meet members of each team and get information on tryouts, practice schedules, competitions, and more. NOTE: Teams that play in the spring may still hold tryouts in the fall, so plan on attending no matter which sport you are interested in.
  • Men's Ice Hockey - a mandatory meeting is typically held before Club Sports Night. More details will be posted as they become available. Please check back or contact the team president for more information. 


 UD Fitness Starter Pack 

  • Get a healthy start to your college career by joining the 10,000 blue hens already participating in our group-ex classes every year! This package includes an unlimited class membership and free fitness assessment. Price is $60. Available for first year students only. REGISTER


Facility Access and Changes to Hours

  • The recreation portion of the student comprehensive fee allows students to access the recreation facility by swiping their UD ID. 
  • Subscribe to our email list to receive updates on changes to hours, programs, events, and more. Changes to hours will also be posted on our social media accounts, so be sure to follow us @UDLilBob.

Looking for something fun and active to do during the week? Join the more than 5,400 Blue Hens already participating in our 29+ intramural sports leagues and tournaments throughout the year! Each league has two levels of competition to accomodate students of all playing abilities. Coed, men's, women's and Greek life leagues are available. Winning teams get the coveted intramural champion t-shirts. Students typically form teams with other students, but can also join the UD Intramural Free Agents Facebook group to connect with others.

Unique Sports

    • Battleship - This is the classic board game brought to life. Held at the outdoor pool on South Campus, students get in canoes and use big buckets to fill with water and dump on their opponents boats. The last boat floating wins! Held at the beginning of fall semester.
    • Broomball - Similar to ice hockey, but played in sneakers! This game will have everyone slipping, sliding and having a blast. Held during the spring semester.

Group-Fitness Classes

  • An unlimited class pass allows you to attend as many classes as you wish throughout the fall and winter semesters (you must renew your pass for the spring/summer). The unlimited class pass is $60. REGISTER
  • Single class passes are also available for $5. These allow you to attend a class of your choice one time. Single class passes must be purchased at the cashier's window in the Lil Bob.

Personal Training

  • Individual Training - Whether you are new to exercise or want to push yourself to a new level, our nationally certified personal trainers can coach you to success. Choose from several training packages and schedule sessions at your convenience. Sessions can take place in the privacy of the Lil Bob personal training studio or the general fitness center. 
  • Small Group Training - Get all the benefits of personal training, but with the added bonus of training with a friend, roommate, or teammate. You must already have a group of 2-4 people in order to register. 
  • Fitness Assessment - A fitness specialist will establish and discuss your baseline levels of fitness by examining your blood pressure, body composition, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, girth measurements, and resting heart rate. This is a great way to see where you are starting from, or to measure the results of your training program over time.

As an official affiliate, UD CROSSFIT will provide a unique workout experience for participants of all fitness levels. Classes include movements that are functional, safe and adaptable for all. Each class is one hour-no two days are the same and results are dramatic. Let the camaraderie and support of the group fuel you to achieve more!

Weekly classes tailored to beginner, experienced and elite athletes are available. Memberships are available to UD students, employees and others with access to the facility.

Club Sports

There are 38 club sports teams with over 1,590 members at UD. These teams are student run organizations that provide an opportunity to engage in structured competition at a level other than the intramural or varsity level. Teams can compete at local, regional, and national events. Joining a club team is an excellent way to continue your athletic career while meeting and having fun with other like-minded individuals. Plan to attend our "Club Sports Night" at the Lil Bob from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29 to get information on tryouts, practice schedules and more.
