2016 SEASON
Saw time in 22 games as Delaware collected the program's first-ever NCAA Division I while registering a team-record and nation-best 23 victories and 90.2 winning percentage • posted four goals • tallied first-career goal in win at Towson (Oct. 21) • registered a career-high two goals in CAA Tournament victory against Drexel (Nov. 4) • PNC Student-Athlete Achiever Award (Feb. 9) • ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad • CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll team • team SAAC representative alongside senior Meghan Winesett.

2015 SEASON
Did not appear in any contests for the three-time CAA Champion Hens during her freshman campaign.

HIGH SCHOOL
Four-sport athlete at Merion Mercy Academy • field hockey squad advanced to state tournament twice during her tenure • as a sophomore, led team as district championship runner-ups • also competed in basketball, indoor track and lacrosse • guided lacrosse team to conference title while advancing to the second round of the district tournament in 2013-14 • competed in the 400, 4x200 and 4x400 for the indoor track squad • team captain for both the track and lacrosse squads during her senior season • played for coaches Dani Deleo (field hockey) and John Geary (lacrosse) • National Honors Society member • four-year honor roll selection • participated in the Biotech Club, History Club and Spanish Club • earned the Chemistry High Achievement Award • took first place during the biology science fair • led club team to the NIT Championship in 2015.

PERSONAL
Michaela Marie Scanlon • born February 28, 1997 in Narberth, Pa. • daughter of E. Kevin and Helen Scanlon • has four siblings, E. Kevin Jr., Brighid, Brendan and Quinn • mother graduated from the University of Delaware and is currently a nurse • sister, Brighid, and aunt, Patti Bentivegnia, are also alumnae of UD • father played football at Villanova • majoring in biology with a minor in neuroscience • has goals of working in pediatric medicine following graduation • lists favorite sports teams as the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies • has one blind dog and one deaf dog • nannies during the summer • enjoys surfing • chose Delaware because this is where she felt most at home • loves how close knit and supportive the team is and how everyone learns from each other • looking forward to being challenged and pushed to her full potential – both on the field and in the classroom.
