McCrae previously served as an assistant at his alma mater, national power DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., for six years prior to arrving in Newark. He also served as head coach for the DC Assault and DC Premier teams in the AAU circuit from 2012 through 2014.

Additionally McCrae worked as an athletic trainer with ASM Sport Management in 2009 in Las Vegas, training professional athletes and enhancing players’ skill sets in preparation for the upcoming NBA season.

McCrae began his collegiate playing career at Wagner from 2002-04, including his freshman season when Ingelsby was an assistant coach with the Seahawks, before playing his final two years at Fordham. He averaged 3.9 points as a junior and 5.7 points as a senior for the Rams, while serving as team captain during both seasons.

McCrae, who graduated with a business management degree from Fordham in 2006, earned the men’s basketball program’s Taco Poto Award for outstanding leadership in 2005.

“I’m excited to join the Blue Hen family,” McCrae said at the time of his hiring. “I believe that (UD head coach) Martin Ingelsby is one of the brightest young coaches in the country, and I look forward to helping him take the UD program to new heights.”

“Corey is a great addition to our staff here at Delaware,” Ingelsby said. “He comes with a strong pedigree as a former Division 1 basketball player and an assistant coach at DeMatha Catholic, one of the most successful high school programs in the country. Corey has extensive recruiting contacts both regionally and nationally. His passion and expertise in developing players will be infectious to our basketball team.”

McCrae and his wife, Mahoganey, reside in Bowie, Md. with their son CJ, 8, and daughter Saige, 4.
