Seven Blue Hens Named To Women's Track & Field All-CAA Squad

RICHMOND, Va. -- Tyra Reid, Ashley Bailey and Kristina Valko, along with the Blue Hen 4x100 meter relay team, represented the University of Delaware on the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Track and Field All-Conference team announced Monday.
Reid (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney), who was honored in the 400 meters, was Delaware’s lone CAA individual champion when she captured the event with a school-record time of 53.79. The UD Alumni Association Team MVP, Reid then earned All-East honors by placing third in the 400 meters in 54.53. Earlier in the season she placed second in the 400 meters at the prestigious Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State, and captured the 400 meter title at the Delaware Classic.
Bailey (Middletown, Del./Middletown) earned All-CAA honors in the pole vault after placing third in the event at the conference meet with a mark of 11-11.75. Bailey, who was named the team’s Most Outstanding Freshman, captured the pole vault at the VCU Ram Invitational and Delaware Classic, and finished 12th at the ECAC Championships with a leap of 12-0.
Valko (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks East) picked up all-conference accolades in the javelin, as she finished third at the CAA meet with a 129-3 throw. Valko also won the javelin event at the Navy Invitational (125-8) and Delaware Classic (120-1).
Additionally, the 4x100 meter relay team of Paige Thompson-Charles, Tyler Jackson, Reid and Latazah Coleman earned All-CAA honors after finishing third at the conference championship with a time of 46.20.
UD freshman Lauren Zodl (Little Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Pinelands Regional), who carries a 3.931 grade point average as a marine biology major, represented Delaware on the All-Academic Team. Zodl, who earned the team’s Coaches Award, won the 1,500 meters at the VCU Ram Invitational and finished sixth in the 3,000 meters at the ECAC Championships.
