KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Delaware softball team fell to Bradley, 2-1, and 15th-ranked Tennessee, 10-2 in five innings, on Sunday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium as the Blue Hens concluded play at the Tennessee Invitational.

The Blue Hens’ first game of the day remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when Bradley (11-8) took the lead on a solo homer to centerfield by Kealia Wysocki. However Delaware (2-12) quickly pulled even during the bottom half as Giovanna Kolofer stroked a two-out single to center, stole second, and scored on a double by Alyshia Dellatore.

The Braves went back in front during the top of the sixth as Caitlyn McCarron led off with a triple to center and immediately scored on a wild pitch. Delaware then put two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh, but could not push across the tying run.

Emily Visnic earned the win for Bradley after allowing one run in five innings, while Blue Hen junior Jordan Cargile gave up two runs on four hits in a complete game effort.

The Volunteers then struck first in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Chelsea Seggern, but Delaware answered in the top of the second when Devon Steiner belted a leadoff homer to leftcenter. Leanna Gearhart then led off the top of the third with an infield single, and after stealing second, she came around to score on a pair of groundouts to put the Blue Hens in front, 2-1.

But Tennessee would immediately answer during the bottom half, pushing across four unearned runs to take a 5-2 advantage. Meghan Gregg delivered an RBI single during the frame, while Haley Beardon drove home two more with a single as the Volunteers took the lead for good.

Seggern ripped an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning, before Tennessee scored four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game due to the mercy rule. Gregg singled home a pair during the rally, and after Aubrey Leach scored on a wild pitch, Taylor Rowland singled home the final run.

Gearhart finished 2 for 3 at the plate for the Blue Hens, while Cargile again took the loss after giving up nine runs, five earned, in 4.1 innings of work.
