Blue Hens Tied For 19th Place Following First Day of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team opened its 2017 spring season on Sunday by carding a 314 score as the Blue Hens finished the first day of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate tied for 19th place out of 22 squads.
Delaware junior Jack Gianniny fired a seven over par 77 on the par 70, 6,778-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort, ending the day tied for 65th place in the individual standings. Sophomore Mark Benevento is tied for 74th place with an eight over par 78, while junior Blaine Lafferty is tied for 83rd place after he fired a nine over par 79.
Junior Kieran Purcell carded a 10 over par 80 as he finished the round tied for 89th place, while senior Marc Oliveri is tied for 99th place after posting an 11 over par 81.
Louisville teammates Keegan de Lange and Nicolas Platret are tied for the lead after both players shot a two under par 68 on Sunday.
The 54-hole tournament continues on Monday with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
