HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team posted rounds of 305 and 300 on Saturday as the Blue Hens ended the day tied for ninth place at the season-opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate.

Delaware is tied for ninth place out of 16 squads along with Bucknell, as both teams finished the day with 605 scores. The host Big Red leads the field at 591, while Lehigh and Fairleigh Dickinson are tied for second with 593 totals.

Blue Hen senior Jack Gianniny fired a three over par 75-72-147 on the par 72, 6,834-yard Seven Oaks Golf Club, ending the day tied for eighth place in the individual standings. Jack Melville is tied for 14th place with a four over par 71-77-148, while Kieran Purcell (78-77-155) and Bobby Diforio (81-74-155) are both tied for 53rd place at 11 over par.

RJ Wren fired an 18 over par 81-81-162 to end Saturday’s action tied for 75th place.

Jack Casler of Cornell is the tournament leader at four under par, while Billy Johns of Lehigh is one shot back.

The third and final round of the invitational will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
