NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime decision to No.  22 UNCW Sunday afternoon at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.

The game was decided on a penalty kick as the Blue Hens (3-2-1, 0-1 Colonial Athletic Association) were whistled for a foul in the 18-yard box nine minutes into the first overtime period.

On the penalty kick, UNCW's David Lozano drilled the ball into the left-hand side of the net just outside the reach of the diving Todd Morton, giving UNCW (5-1, 1-0 CAA) the 1-0 victory.

UNCW outshot Delaware 17-6, and Morton made three saves.

Head Coach Ian Hennessy:
“I thought UNCW was excellent today. People can see why they beat the No. 3 team in the country (UNC) last week. Today they thoroughly deserved the win. For us, we continue to grow and pick up momentum. There are games to be had in the CAA, but they deserve all the credit today. Every game in the Colonial is a battle. Our goal is to get back into the playoffs, and every game is a game where you need to pick up points. So we look forward to bouncing back at Northeastern, knowing that we need to get a result up there to continue to be in the playoff hunt at the end of the season.
