CENTREVILLE, Va. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team leads the 16-team field at the Patriot Intercollegiate after Monday’s second round was halted by darkness.

The Blue Hens fired an even par 288 during the opening round of the tournament, and were three over during the second round when play was suspended. Florida Gulf Coast sits in second place at six over par, while Appalachian State is third at eight over par.

UD seniors Kieran Purcell and Jack Gianniny are each tied for sixth place in the individual standings at two under par. Purcell tied his career low round with a four under par 68 on the par 72, 7,071-yard Chantilly National Golf & Country Club course, before following with a 74 to finish the day at 142. Gianniny carded a pair of one under par rounds of 71 during Monday’s action to shoot a 71-71-142.

Fellow senior Blaine Lafferty is tied for ninth place at the tournament with an even par 73-71-144.

Christian Chapman is tied for 43rd place with an eight over par 76-76-152, while Jack Melville is tied for 54th place at 10 over par with one hole remaining in his second round. Playing as an individual, Matt Bastian is tied for 65th place with a 12 over par 77-79-156.

Trip Summerlin of Appalachain State leads the field at five under par, while Sam Madsen of Georgetown and Andrew Potter of FGCU are each one shot back.

Second round play will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, immediately followed by the third and final round of the invitational.
