HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware men’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association contest at Hofstra Saturday night.

The Blue Hens (5-4-1, 2-2-1 CAA) and Pride (2-4-6, 1-0-4 CAA) played the opening 45 minutes without a score, but a 63rd-minute goal by Oscar Ramsay proved to be the difference. On the goal, Hofstra’s Luke Brown crossed a ball that deflected off a Blue Hen and fell to Oscar Ramsay who pushed a shot past UD goalie Todd Morton.

Delaware’s best opportunity of the match came in the 47th minute when Noa Benninga sent a rising shot that deflected off the crossbar and out of play. Hofstra outshot Delaware 10-6 for the match.

The Blue Hens continue CAA play this Wednesday when Delaware hosts James Madison for a 7 p.m. match.

Head coach Ian Hennessy:

“It’s been a tough week for our guys. The effort tonight was much better and it was certainly a hard-fought battle, but we struggled to create quality chances in front of the goal. We return home Wednesday night for a huge conference game against James Madison where we need to pick up another three points in the tight race for second place in the conference.”

HEN SCRATCHINGS:
• Delaware falls to 2-1 this season following a loss.
• The Blue Hens have lost back-to-back matches for the first time since October 29th, 2016.
