BURLINGTON, N.C. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team is tied for ninth place while senior Kieran Purcell is tied for 12th place following Monday’s action at the Elon Phoenix Invitational.

The Blue Hens fired team rounds of 293 and 288 on Monday, ending the day tied for ninth out of 16 squads with a 581 score. Elon leads the field at 558, while Radford and High Point are tied for second place at 567.

Purcell carded a one under par 70-71-141 on the par 71, 6,867-yard Alamance Country Club course to finish the day tied for 12th place in the individual standings. Blaine Lafferty shot a six over par 77-71-148 and is tied for 52nd place, while Christian Chapman is tied for 59th place with a seven over par 75-74-149.

Jack Melville, who carded a 71-79-150, and Jack Gianniny, who recorded a 78-72-150, are each tied for 65th place at eight over par.

Adrian Castagnola of George Washington sits in first place at seven under par, while three players are two shots back.

The final round of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
