POWELLS POINT, N.C. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team sits in fourth place while senior Jack Gianniny is tied for fourth following Sunday’s opening round at the Old Dominion Outer Banks Intercollegiate.

The Blue Hens carded a 282 score on Sunday, their lowest of the fall season, ending the day in fourth place out of 18 squads. Campbell leads the field with a 270 score, followed by Old Dominion at 279, Ball State at 280, and Delaware.

Gianniny fired a four under par 67 on the par 71, 6,502-yard Kilmarlic Golf Course, ending the day tied for fourth place. Gianniny, who posted the second lowest round of his career, notched six birdies on the day.

Fellow seniors Kieran Purcell and Blaine Lafferty each carded two under par 69 rounds on Sunday and are tied for 10th place. Purcell fired five birdies in a six-hole stretch from 10 through 15, while Lafferty also had five birdies during the second lowest round of his career.

Jack Melville is tied for 76th place with a six over par 77, while Christian Chapman is tied for 86th place with an eight over par 79.

Chad Hess of Old Dominion sits in first place at seven under par, while two players are two shots back.
