POWELLS POINT, N.C. – The University of Delaware men’s golf team finished in ninth place while senior Kieran Purcell tied for eighth as the Blue Hens concluded their 2017 fall season this week at the ODU Outer Banks Intercollegiate.

The tournament wrapped up the coaching career of Mike Keogh, who was the UD men’s head coach for 16 years before serving as a full-time assistant during this fall’s campaign.

The Blue Hens carded a 292 team score during Tuesday’s final round, finishing in ninth place out of 18 squads with an 867 three-round total. Campbell captured the team crown with an 821 score, while Ball State finished second at 835.

Purcell fired a one under par 70 during his final round on the par 71, 6,502-yard Kilmarlic Golf Course, tying for eighth place with a four under par score of 69-70-70-209. Purcell’s three-round total was the lowest of his career, and three shots off the school 54-hole record.

Blaine Lafferty carded a one over par 72 on Tuesday, and tied for 29th place with a three over par 69-75-72-216. Jack Melville, who shot an even par 71 during his final round, tied for 46th place with a seven over par 77-72-71-220.

Jack Gianniny tied for 62nd place with a 10 over par 67-76-80-223, while Christian Chapman finished 87th with a 21 over par 79-76-79-234.

Ray Kraivixien of Campbell was the tournament medalist by finishing at nine under par, while Eric Edwards of George Mason and Chad Hess of Old Dominion each finished two shots back.
