PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Sophomore Kevin Basch continued his dominance over the distance events Saturday afternoon, but the University of Delaware swimming and diving team dropped a pair of decisions to La Salle University (199-98) and Rider University (182-117) at Kirk Pool.

For the second consecutive week Basch finished first in the 500 freestyle (4:39.83), and later in the afternoon, the distance specialist took home the top spot in the 1000 freestyle (9:35.72), before concluding his afternoon on the Delaware (1-6) 400 freestyle relay (3:13.09).

Other highlights included senior captain Patrick Savidge finishing second in the 100 breaststroke (59.35) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.35).

Delaware returns to action next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Franklin Marshall Invitational.
