OLEAN, N.Y. – It came down to the final play of the game and junior Nicole Enabosi came up with a colossal block to seal the deal as the Blue Hens picked up a hard-fought, 53-52, win over St. Bonaventure Wednesday evening at the Reilly Center.

Down by three with a minute-and-a-half remaining in regulation, sophomore Bailey Kargo knocked down two free throws before classmate Samone DeFreese came up with a layup with 23 seconds on the clock to take the one-point advantage.

Enabosi finished the game with her fifth double double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with two steals, two assists and a blocked shot.

Sophomore Abby Gonzales added 12 points and two rebounds while DeFreese tallied eight points as Delaware improves to 4-3 on the year.

Mariah Ruff led the Bonnies (4-4) with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while three total St. Bonaventure players registered eight rebounds apiece.

POST-GAME QUOTES
Head Coach Natasha Adair
“What a phenomenal finish. And that’s the key word: finish. We’ve been harping on finishing and our two overtime games prepared us for this game because we weren’t as tight in the waning moments. We were more focused, locked in and had key defensive possessions where we had huge stops on the road against a tough A-10 team. We’re growing leaps and bounds and I couldn’t be more proud of the effort shown. If I could highlight everyone, I would, because everyone had an impact tonight.”

Sophomore Samone DeFreese
“We knew we had to stay disciplined to our principles. Coach [Adair] sets us up to be successful and it was a matter of following through with the plays that she drew up. We’ve been in this same position in two of the last three games with double overtime and then overtime and we didn’t want to be put in that position again. We wanted to come out with the win in regulation. Having five games away from home is definitely tough and we needed this one.”
